The Leash

I want to pass along something new I got recently. A new camera strap, the Leash. Finding the perfect camera strap is like looking for the perfect camera bag, it's never ending. Another photographer friend of mine was at a function we were both shooting recently. He had the leash on his rigs. I was intrigued. Simple, clean design, multi-function, (who doesn't love a multitasker?!) unobtrusive, strong, slides on clothing, a sweet quick-connection system that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, expands from 19 inches to 60 inches hmmmmm... So last week I bought two, one for each of my principal cameras. They arrived within three days. Impressive turn around on my order, great start there gotta tell you. Within 10 minutes both straps were on the cameras and I spent the next half an hour just playing with the different ways to use the Leash. I love these straps. I just ordered another one for my everyday take everywhere camera. Nicely done. You should check them out, they have other really cool stuff too. My book

I created a coffee table photo book of some of my favorite and best liked photographs. It's a 10" x 10", 26 page hard cover premium photo book. The photos are printed on archival quality real photographic silver-halide paper with a lustre finish, for vivid fade-resistant saturated colors and brilliant whites. A binding system allows every page spread to lay flat without any gutter or unsightly seam to separate the pages. This system combines beautiful presentation with incredible durability for a stunning photo book that will last a lifetime. This is a special order item, the price is $90.00. If you're interested in purchasing one please contact me.

Snow, finally.

Well, it had been a season of almost no snow so far. About 18 inches below normal, until last night. Mother nature decided to give it to us all at once, which made for lots of fun with the snow blower this morning. Hey, it's Western New York, we're supposed to get snow here!

I moved Black Betty to clean out the spot she occupies in the driveway since Rosie arrived and stole her spot in the protected environment of the garage. I swear I could hear Rosie (being the California girl that she is) say, "what the hell is that crap all over you?" Black Betty mumbled something, I'm not sure what, it didn't come out clear through all the snow...

After Sandy

I thought I would take a trip to Letchworth to see what The Falls, the Dam and some other areas looked like after Sandy came through the other day.

(Records show that severe floods had plagued the valley as far back as 1800. Terrible destruction resulted from the flood of 1865, which developed flows exceeding 24 million gallons per minute, one half the flow of Niagara Falls. From 1865 to 1950, a major flood ravaged the Genesee River valley on an average of every seven years. Completion of the project significantly reduced the risk of flood disaster which formerly threatened the lower Genesee River valley. The capacity of the reservoir in the river gorge, 301,853 acre-feet, is ample to protect the basin below from all but very infrequent floods.) http://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/MountMorrisDam/ProjectHistory.aspx

Anyway, I thought since I was going I would introduce Rosie to one of our great sightseeing locations. The river was flowing pretty well to say the least. Even caught the Eastbound crossing the Portage Bridge which opened for traffic July 31, 1875 .
Enjoy the photos.

Wow!

The last two portrait sessions were awesome! More fun times photographing great families and making memories. The colors of the foliage this fall was better than expected. The photo shoot in Letchworth with the Johns family was very colorful late in the afternoon the sun lighting up the trees and fallen leaves.

This past weekend was a rainy one. I recently made arraignments with the Kindred Ground Farm owners Tammy and Jim Anderson (where we get our Community Sponsored Agriculture vegetables all season) to use their barn. They recently began renovations to make their barn into an event location to handle parties, wedding receptions and other events. It's a gorgeous barn with wonderful ambiance to do a photo shoot and honestly, spectacular lighting.

I can see doing lots of shoots here, inside and out!
